The mischievous alternative rabbit character, Kuromi, is at last taking center stage this Halloween. To mark the 20th anniversary since Kuromi entered the Hello Kitty and Friends family, Sanrio has partnered with several major brands for extensive festivities both online and offline.
Beginning now, players can access a brand-new Roblox minigame called The Mischief Mansion, which is built within the popular My Hello Kitty CafĆ© experience. This launch kicks off what is planned to be an annual spooky season tradition dedicated to the character. A spokesperson described it as Sanrio's āmost ambitious digital activation yetā.
As for how to play, The Mansion is a twist on hide-and-seek. Participants take on one of two roles: hiders disguise themselves as spooky items, while those seeking assume the role of Kuromi and try to locate the hidden players. By playing, users can earn event coins used for exclusive decorations in My Hello Kitty CafƩ, plus time-sensitive surprises and free items.

This spooky festivity extends to physical stores. Throughout October, over six hundred retail stores are getting a makeover with a purple color palette to resemble of Kuromi's Mischief Mansion for a limited time. They will offer a range of Kuromi-only merchandise from cozy hoodies and accessories. Each collection item includes a card that unlocks an in-game, digital version within the game. These items will be available at retail from early October.
Southern California enthusiasts should note: The Hot Topic main location in California is also holding a Mischief Mansion pop-up with immersive photo opportunities, shareable moments, and a chance to meet Kuromi in person on a specific date in the afternoon.
If you craving even more adorable Kuromi gear, the brand is also collaborating with Liquid Death for a capsule collection including a limited-edition jacket and t-shirt. These items launches at BoxLunch's 280 retail locations as well as web shops around the middle of the month.
Finally, the company offers something for all fans of comfortable footwear. Kuromi-themed Crocs in adult and kids sizes are launching only on the official website from the first of October. Additionally, Kuromi fans can also unlock an exclusive set of in-game Crocs for their avatar while playing the game.
Kuromi debuted in a 2005 animated series, Please My Melody. Recently, she appeared with her occasional rival My Melody in Netflix's stop-motion anime My Melody & Kuromi.
