Vinted Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Size Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.

The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Updates

Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
